NOLAsailing That movie looks very interesting and intense.

I hope it comes through New Orleans in the theaters. If not, I'll be looking forward to the DVD.

By the way, the book was "The STRANGE Last Voyage..." It certainly was a strange voyage and the obvious mental degeneration recorded in his journal is disturbing.

The book "A Voyage For Madmen" is also a great read on the Golden Globe Race.

Jeff_H Donald Crowhurst is one of the most disturbing stories that has come out of long distance racing. The book about him, "The Amazing Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst" was absolutely riveting and depressing at the same time. His true story was far stranger than "Outerbridge Reach" the book that was loosely based on Crowhurst. I did not realize that NPR did a story on him as well.

"Deep Water," the Documentary

FYI on a film review at URL

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...oryId=13906599

"Deep Water is disturbing, unnerving and wire-to-wire involving. It's the story of a dream that got so wildly out of hand that it ensnared the dreamer in an intricate trap of his own creation.

It all began in 1968, when The Sunday Times newspaper sponsored what was billed as the greatest endurance test of all time: a single-handed sail around the world, with no stops allowed and dangers at every point of the compass."
