Re: New Front Hatch frames

P: I should have applied a one new coat of wax to her before launching - but the Hull still looks good.
TS: I sanded wood then liberally applied expensive UV protected spar varnish before install.

ALL: Took her out today and wood is holding up well exposed to 2-months of weather

Re: New Front Hatch frames

Those look great! And the hull refinish is beautiful! (I tried to reply to that post, but couldn't.) Thanks for sharing. Now I'm inspired to get back to work on mine... :-)

Re: New Front Hatch frames

Looks good. Make sure to seal them really well, oak doesn't do well in a marine environment. If you check my thread (Spirit 23 in Charlotte) you can see some I made using that plastic lumber they sell at lowes and such. Also ended up making drop boards from it as well. I almost want to do something similar for the bulkheads where the chainplates bolt so I never have to worry about rotting.

New Front Hatch frames

Hey folks -
Thought you might like to see the new hatch frames I made out of oak to replace the originals.
