sailingdog One of the people on this site, Robert Gainer I think, posted a link to a spreadsheet a while back. The spreadsheet had data for a lot of sailboats in it.

EDIT:
BTW, CapnHand recently posted a link to the spreadsheet in question in another thread earlier today. Hmmm... how weird is that. The spreadsheet is located here.

Total the product of the ranking x importance for each boat along the bottom row.
I did this (not 6sigma) using a criteria spreadsheet, it was very useful.
I also used a sheet with all of the equipment I would like and line by line upgrade cost if the equipment that needed to be added or replaced for each potential boat, including transortation/taxes etc. Another sheet in the same workbook for boat shopping expenses, etc, etc. Like I said it was very useful, it helped us a great deal as some boats would have cost a small fortune to equip even though it didn't appear so at first glance.

Even if the upgrades cost more than you think, it's not the accuracy of the final amount that counts, it's the fact that you're comparing apples to apples for each potential boat.

chris_gee Yes http://www.image-ination.com/sailcalc.html will give you various parameters, or locate boats which meet chosen criteria in standard boat characteristic terms.
I made my own spreadsheet inserting the formulae, and it is quite useful for seeing at a glance what the characteristics are. This was for a smaller size than you are interested in.
Some additional areas like number of heads, you will have to compile and score yourself because the scores are subjective.
However there are several threads here which will give you the names of boats which you might consider and which you can follow up to get the data.

Any Spreadsheets for Comparing Boats ?

Was going to put together a simple spreadsheet to enable wifey and I to compare and prioritize used boats (40-50 ft blue water cruisers) and their various features. Most likely this wheel has already been invented.....

Anyone have such an itwm or know where one is?
