sailingdog MDQ-

The photo posting feature of Sailnet has been somewhat problematic at best. I would recommend that you get an account at flickr.com or another photo sharing site and then post links to your photos hosted there via the icon.

Tartan34C Mdq,
It sounds like a reefing claw. You use it to attach the vang when you have rolled the main around the boom to reef the main. Itís considered obsolete now as most people use jiffy reefing or slab reefing. Roller reefing on the boom proved to be a poor choice for several reasons.
All the best,
Robert Gainer

MDQ Thank you. Manuals and photos were very helpful. I took a picture of one piece fo equipment to post as attachment to see if anyone could identify it but the forum says the file is beyond the permitted size. Any ideas on how to get the picture posted. The item is yellow, shaped like a horseshoe with two sets of white rollers on the end and a small sheet witha block on the other end. We 're not sure if maybe it is an aftermarket product to attach the boom vang to the mast or what.

rigging

my daughter and son in law picked up a 1973 O'Day Day sailer II. Trying to help them set up the rigging but so far have only been able to find a guide on line back to the 1974 model. The rigging was changed in 1974. Does anyone have any suggestions or information on where to locate some instructions on setting it up. Most of the rigging was with the boat but it appears that some of the boom vang hardware is missing.Thanks. Took pictures of some of teh hardware .
