Re: Head's raw water intake not working.

Thanks for the videos.... I have the parts kit and after watching the video am ready to attack the pump

SimonV Had a similar problem. Unscrewed the inlet strainer and it was clean opened the stop valve and water gushed in. It was only when I completely removed the strainer assembly that I found a long length of weed with lots of leaves on it. What was happening was it would compress and plug the line when I stopped pumping it would uncompress and allow water to flow. Do the simple things first and work your way towards the complicated expensive stuff.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

that makes sense

in any case apply video 1 op and see if that is the issue if not apply other vids

sorry for the slight hijack

the reason Im saying this is we just did this on an exact same jabsco head that was left sitting for 4 years

the spring failed and the gasket leaked...

once fixed and inspecting flow of water all was good

works great

I think it was originally a choker valve but somebody misspelled it and the sheep followed.

my bad then

on the jabsco pumps you want to replace the diagphragm, and spring or else the pump wont action correctly

does that make sense?

sorry for the confusion
I have always wondered why it's called a joker valve
Found this article (It does not explain the name, but worth a read) Joker Valves for Marine Heads - Practical Sailor Article

Edit: Found this

Seems joker valve is the Jabsco adaption of a Duckbill valve

Re: Head's raw water intake not working.

I would replace what they call a joker valve inside the pump...

it will lose "suction" if the diaphragm part doesnt have a good enough seal

also like above visually check to see flow of water from the thru hull

peace
