Have an old scampi with Hydraulic drive. The prop shave is less than 4 ft long.
There is no place where a 19ft shaft would fit in my boat..
The Hydraulic stuff is eminently reparable so if there are no hydraulic leaks (my problem #1, now fixed), I would wish you well. Wonderful boat to sail. Rigging and hull are bulletproof in a colder climate.

Advice needed please SCAMPI 30 Hydraulic shaft
I am looking at buying a cheap Scampi 30 in need of TLC, but it had a survey 2 years ago and no serious defects were found and all the suggested repairs replacements etc have been completed. I do intend to have a new survey completed and new standing rigging and running rigging as this still needs to be carried out. The engine certainly looks its age but has recently had a complete service and started first time. My concern is that it has an hydraulic shaft and in reading various reports other owners have reported problems with the 19ft shaft.
I am not sure what this type of shaft is, or how I can test it for problems before passing over cash! Can anybody advise please ?
