Cabin Upgrade

I have a 1984 Mac 25 that came with an orginal (I think) icebox in the cabin. The door opens outward into the walkway and has a bin that slides into the top to hold ice. Shelves below allow for storage of items. The ice bin has a spout that allows me to drain the water out of it and dispose of. The bin has been patched so many times it is becoming more of a patch than a bin. Anyone have a source for upgrading this icebox or an idea for replacing it all together?

Um, I have a '83 Mac 25 with the original sliding galley. I am not familar with what you are describing. It doesnt sound original to me.

I have heard of some people taking it out completely and putting a large 5-day cooler in its place because they figured it was better for what the used the boat for (day and weekends).
