Have to agree, marinas seem covered.
Again, would LOVE to see a diving/cruising specific site!

camaraderie Between noonsite.com and marinas.com I don't think there is much additional need for info on foreign countries OR marinas.

xort Or take a look at activecaptain.com. Very cool. There's lots of cruiser friendly sites like that.

Since you are knowledgable on diving, I'd stick to subcategories in that area. At this point in time, just about everything is already on the net. Your job is to do it better than anybody and get the word out about it better than anybody.

SailorMitch Pam -- you should check out this site. Has lots of useful information already about marinas. http://marinas.com/

Thanks everyone, here's what I'm working on

Everyone, I appreciate the suggestions, please keep them coming.

trecksail, in response to your request here is the site I'm working on now.
"MyNextMarina.com"
(I have less than 10 posts so it won't let me post a link to it.)

I want to have a one-stop site for marinas around the world, with all resources relating to cruising, sailing, diving in each area. I would love to have cruisers write reviews on marinas and cruising destinations.

I will include clearance procedures, do's and don'ts, recommendations, etc..

I'm also working on "Cruising Kitty" ideas - sharing ideas and helping fellow sailors with earning ideas to add to the kitty. I may have a separate site for that called CruisingKitty.org.

I may have another site "iliveaboard.com" to house additional information, such as insurance, communications, cooking, equipment, maintenance.

I am a web developer so I started the websites as a way to house all the information I will need when we become fulltime cruisers. There are so many questions and so many resources -- still trying to find and sort out the best sources.
Pam

I've been diving for more than 10 years, sailing only a couple. The two go hand-in-hand so well, I can't wait until we've living in the Caribbean on our boat.

Website

Hi Pam,
Would you consider posting a link to your website so we could take a look?
By your screen name I assume you dive as well? Is your website going to be a combined sailing diving site? I think that would be great. To find much cruising/diving combined material it takes quite a bit of googl'n and then it seems to be a light comment here or there on a forum. I spent a pretty good amount of time last night trying to find info on portable/cruising sailboat worthy oil-less compressors.

Well, best of luck either way.

CapnHand What would I like?

Lower marina fees
Fair winds
Following seas
Cheaper fuel
Cheaper booze
World peace

jasonr575 Here are some things that i think would be handy
Link to common used knots for referance
Link to 12 volt utilities (fan, coffee maker etc)
Live aboard/crusing tips (people can write in or you can comple and post
list destinations and have people write in and evaluate what they like/dislike
Recipe list (geared toward boat cooking) things that cook fast, without heating the cabin
pumpout locations

sailingdog The Coastal Boating website has some good info, mainly for New England though IIRC.

PBzeer Claiborne Young's web site Salty Southeast Cruiser's Net http://www.cruisersnet.net/index.php is a great resource from North Carolina to Louisiana and The Bahamas. The Seven Seas Cruising Association http://ssca.org/cgi-bin/pagegen.pl?pg=home&title=Home is another great resource.
