Friend recently purchased a Coronado 25. Unfortunately, ahe purchased it in November in Chicago. So I have 4 months to get my bearings around a boat. Lines, and halyards, not ropes. So I need some info on some good books to get me by until spring when I can take sailing lessons. Thanks
Jeff
I've read the ASA and USAA intro books.. Seidman's book, The Complete Sailor, is far more readable and geared towards non-sailors, but it covers a very broad depth of sailing information, in a very easy to read form, with very clear illustrations that it is of use to even experienced sailors. I give a copy of the book to everyone who crews with me for any extended period of time.
Unlike a lot of the other introductory books, The Complete Sailor, goes over some of the history of sailing vessels, and a lot of the theory behind why and how sailboats work. This foundation makes it much easier for you to remember how a sailboat works, and makes you a better sailor IMHO.
Was wondering if any of you have ever sailed a Coronado 25. Do they have any weird habits? And I already ordered "The Complete Sailor" so at least I'll have some studying to do for a while
Smuggling Drugs on a Coronado 25 for fun and profit...good read
actually i havnt seen any documents on that boat. but know someone who sailed from los angeles to new zealand on one, then sold it in NZ for 3 times the purchase price.
edit; i wouldnt recommend doing that but this guy had balls of steel so to speak.
