Rockter Pegasus...

In 1997, I split the exhaust manifold on my olde MD17C. It was my fault.

The cost, then, was £1300, then about $2200, FOR AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD FOR A 20 YEAR OLD MOTOR.

A piston and liner kit, you need three of them, each £300, then $510, total $1530.

Final drive oil seal, one of, £49....sourced elsewhere fo £3.50 (ABC in Aberdeen, Scotland).

Volvo would not seel me oversizes to rebore the motor.

Check out the price for their starter motor too.

Don't learn this lesson the way I did.

Don't buy one. I will never buy another.

Bukh engine

Designed for marine use, not a marinized industrial engine. Used for lifeboats etc. Readily available in europe. The 10 hp. should be sufficient.

sailingdog Volvo parts are unrealistically expensive to purchase at least here in the USA.

What do you have against Volvo diesels? Every boat I have chartered in Europe came with a Volvo diesel, and we never had any problems with them.

sailingdog Beta Marine uses a Kubota block and many of the parts are available at very reasonable prices.

Beta Marine will make a decent motor... in 10, 14, 16 and 20 hP.

They look a good motor.

I have no connection with Beta Marine.

Avoid Volvo. I mean it.

Thanx guys thought I was being i bit optimistic with the 20 hp idea will keep a look out for a good 12hp, so if anyone knows of any in the uk let me know thanx again
