I have spent a fair amount of time racing on Cal 25''s. These are neat little boats that can be a lot of fun to sail. They offer surprisingly good performance in a pretty wide range of conditions and are reasonably well constructed. They do have a number of construction details which in 30 some odd years have not held up (such as the cabin sole covers, and portlights) but these are comparatively easy to correct. Like many boats of this era, the hardware was less than ideal and so many of these boats, at least around Annapolis, have replaced almost all of the factory sailing hardware with better gear. These boats offer a lot of space for a 25 footer and in general are neat little boats.
On the downside, they have a very full bow and are quite corky and so really do not like chop. Their rig proportions, big genoas and small mainsail (these were originally raced with 170% genoas) mean that they require a rather large jib inventory for a 25 footer to sail well in a wide range of windspeeds. Their telephone pole masts are so stiff that depowering can be challenging. Compared to more modern designs they are slow and have pretty uncomfortable motions.
Still, these are neat little boats that sail well and offer a huge amount of boat for the dollar.

I have recently purchased a ''70 cal 25 and am curious if anyone knows much about these- what to look for, good/bad points, etc.
This boat seems to be in good structural shape, just in need of some TLC. I am curious if anyone knows about the keel design on these as well.
