|Slipkiller2||I had 74 Catalina 25 that had a cowel vent on the foredeck and it really did get the sheets caught on it. I replaced it wth the exact vent you are asking about and it worked very well. It would catch the sheets now and then and yes a stubed my toe on it every so often but other than that I felt worked pretty well.|

|Freesail99||My vent on the forward hatch works fine. Also 2 vents with one on in-take and the other on out-take works best|

The design of the vent does help mitigate any sheet becoming snagged, although doing something wrong would be the most likely cause of sheet to become snagged on the unit. Can you imagine that?
I have seen folks who have installed the vents on front hatches. Of course the solar vent is at an angle to the sun... may be good .. or may not.. I don't know.
I shall order one vent. I can always move it from one location to another.
Thanks for the ideas and thoughts.
Happy and safe sailing.

If you're talking about these:
Mounting them on the hatch isn't a bad idea. If your sheets can snag on one of these vents, you're doing something wrong or you installed it wrong.

For those who would like to know more about the Micro vents,
please visit: jamestowndistributors website
and perform a search on Micro vents. There is information at the site.
I was advised to install the vent above the head. Traffic on the front of the deck, and the near location to the anchor may be in an area prone to accidents. Moreover, sleeping under a fan -- if installed above the front berth - - may be distracting. Good advice from an experienced sailor.

Solar Micro Vent Location
I seek your opinion.
I have a 1978 25' Catalina. There are two vent ports dead center on the deck: one above the forward berth, the other above the head.
I'd like to place a Micro vent in one of the port locations; thus, sparing myself from creating another hole in the deck.
My concern is that either one of these locations may cause the head sale sheets to become snagged on the mushroom style vent cap when tacking.
Any thoughts regarding the placement of the Micron vent?
