Went on four-hour sail yesterday with my wife, two daughters, and the dog... Had a wonderful time on Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic... took a few videos that capture what it's like for our small family on a small boat. Might be intersting for a few of you with young'nes...

Hog, that was great.
Loved the grapes in the lense shot.
What is it about grapes and sailing, I think they are a staple for a lot of us.

My favorite was the daughter under the blankey.

Looks like a great day, Hog.. nice looking family you've got, and they seemed to really enjoy the sail.

Sometimes peaceful can be boring;)

Hog,

Nice try. Why was it that every camera angle included some of that nice gleaming teak that you must have worked hard all winter varnishing? Show-off!! :D :D

Seriously, thanks for the vids. The giggling gals are definitely cuties!

Of course, to any father, their daughters are always going to be little girls, no matter their chronological age.

I guess than that I am in the in-between age of 18!!!!
Love my daughter dearly, but she can realy push my buttons.
I figure by about 22 - 24 she should have it figured out.
Im just hanging in there till that happens.

She still loves to sail.

This was her in '06 family sail.

I have been there. You know the difference between a teenager and terrorist? You can negotiate with a terrorist!

That looked like a fun family day's sail SH - enjoying the boat with your lovely wife at the helm, girls giggling with delight and sounds of the wind and sea, without the annoying drone of engine noise.

Funny though, whenever my daughter and I went sailing on our last boat, she liked to giggle with delight as the wind piped up, even though she's old enough to have her own brood.

Thanks for sharing your family day on the water with us.

Great vids, but I didn't see anything electronic go over the side. Looks like somebody got a haircut since last year as well. Should be there by the weekend I think.

Thanks, Hog. Great vids.

If we didn't love 'em so much, kids wouldn't be so frustrating, especially older kids. Our too late remonstrances to our parents do nothing to alleviate our own anxieties. But then, I dimly recall hearing someone say to me once or twice, "just wait until you have kids". Sorry Mom, like most things, you were right about this one too.

Sailhog- those were great, love seeing the kids having such a good time. Those will be priceless as the girls get older-and it happens so quickly! My boys are 33 and 31, when the hell did that happen?

I did not look at the video, but I am sure the would remind me of times i spent skiing with my 4 kids from 92-04 when I bought and sold a travel trailer I would use as a ski hut. And a few summer weekends here and there around the NW.

Bought sailboat 3 yrs ago, now 22 yr old sons and elder 19 yr old daughter come along as crew during races. Not sure when and if the 15, 16 on the 22nd will come along. Goes out on my canoe with out a hitch, but the sailboat, still gun shy after three times out. Hopefully soon.

Had not heard the teenager vs terrorists comment before. A little true, then again, having had 4 of them in the house at one time, They found I did not negotiate things to often...........

Funny. My daughter Emma (9y/o) is the real first mate on our boat. She is great in a blow and loves the lively action. jack, my 7 y/o son is still a knucklehead when it comes to common sense things and so is relegated to cook's mate. I wonder if that will change? He loves the boat, but gets so wrapped up in the seagulls, or the fish, or a winch handle for that matter, that he loses situational awareness. He is only 7........I guess I should enjoy it while I can, the teen years are coming:eek:
