sailingdog No check, whether it is a traveler's check, cashier's check, a certified bank check, a personal check or a money order is "guaranteed". It is far to easy to counterfeit or forge any of the above nowadays.

kmahren From what I've heard lately, that a cashiers check is NO more guaranteed untill it CLEARS as a personal check.

sailingdog I would be a bit cautious regarding the check and making sure it clears properly... since there have been some new recent scams that use the "soldier in Iraq" as part of their new routine. I'm not saying that that is the case here, but as someone who deals with internet security issues a lot... it is something to be aware of.

Everything is going as smoothly as possible, I have the check and will cash it today, then send them the title as soon as the funds clear.

Still no idea on the amount of $$ ebay and paypal will charge. I can't believe she is actually gone, sad day!

sanjuan2R Your Ericson 29 should make him excited about getting back to the States alright. Nice boat. I had a Zuma in the 1990's and it was a fast, fun boat; easity towed behind your vehicle. I even put atop my station wagon before I bought a cheap trailer to tow it easier. It should give you endless hours of enjoyment before you find your next cruiser. [Learned to sail in Seattle on a Laser] Good hunting and enjoy that cabin.

Private buying documents

Hello, can you help me by telling me how a form looks like by buying a 35 sailing boat from a private person, NO via broker. Are there standard forms?
Thanks in advance.

We have a cottage in Horton Bay, between Boyne City and Charlevoix. I'll be there from time to time this summer sailing the family Laser. I may also bring our Helms 25 up from Grand Haven for a week or two. You're welcome to join us for a sail when we're there.

cjmcfall I seriously doubt it is the same guy, but maybe they are friends I think if I were in Iraq I would be pretty excited about the idea of siting on the back of my new boat having a few cocktails. It would probably make it a lot easier to get through the day.

Heck, it is what helps me get through my day, and I am pretty confident no one will be shooting at me.

I chatted with the new owner this morning online, he seems really excited. As he should be.

teshannon cj,
No, I used to spend a lot of time at the nuke plant up there before they tore it down. Would fly into Traverse City and then drive up. I liked the town of Petoski also. Not so nice in the winter though.

Yesterday, I received the May/June Good Old Boat magazine. Page 54 has an article written by a GI in Iraq who bought a boat online. I haven't read the article -yet. Is this teh same boat? Or, is this a trend?

cjmcfall Shannon, yeah I can't wait to spend some time up there. We will actually be spending most of our time in Boyne City, MI, its on the south shore of the lake. Are you from up there?
