|T34C||Speaking on the level of a concerned parent and in the spirit of sportsmanship, I think I would be tempted to boycott any further dealings with that club. If several other clubs all decided to boycott you might be able to put an end to the BS.|

They were organizing what we call "rabbit starts", and setting the slower ones to make the other kids lose the rights of way...
What I am amazed is not that they were planing to show the other kids...they actually worked as a team!! and that is what I liked...without having the coach know, they polanned a startegy to win, and they did.
Fred was all proud yesterday...but he said he would rather play his pc game than post on sailnet...looks like he has a life

|Insails||Alex, have seen the same thing with little league baseball here..Seems some adults just cant stand losing ,even if it means beating someone elses kid and showing poor sportsmanship as an example to others..I feel bad for the Kids who will have to live their whole life with the fact their parents cheated for them......We know who the real winners are)|

Fred is to be congratulated, and it appears you and your wife are doing a great job of parenting.
As far as your question goes..."What would you do..." I think the only thing that you can and that you should do, is what you are doing here. Let people know what occurred in a factual manner. What goes around comes around (but sometimes needs a little push to get it moving in the right direction.. )

That's just fantastic. Go Fred.
He's welcome to be captain on my boat anytime...

|T34C||We all love sailing, but there are bigger lessons to be learned from a kids sailing/racing program then just how to get around the bouys. Fred has learned that lesson to a degree well beyond his years.|

If these races counted towards a end of the yr championship, might be worth going after the host club in some way shape or form. BUT< even if they did, more than likely, the 5 in the top at this race, will not finish at the top at the end of the year. The best will win in the end.
I know from my yrs as a snow ski coach in the 6-12 yr old bracket, our goal as coaches and course setters, was to get everyone to finish. It did not always happen, but that was how we wanted a course set. Not one that would cause a bunch to fall, ski out of the course etc. Because in the end, the best person that day would win, and the rest would fall into place.
At the end of the season, those 5 kids that got first, will be worst off than if they would have done the right thing, canceled everyone, or had every one race!
The folks in the wrong, unfortunately are the ones that should have been right, ie the adults on the race committee!
Time to quit stewing over this one, its not worth it! It appears as if Fred does not care, nor hopefully his team mates, so neither should you.
