I think he said he was having trouble with the idle...
I would first check the throttle cable...they have a way of getting out of adjustment..
Sorry that was meant for another thread terminal brainlock , there were two merc outboard threads....

Thank's everyone, I pulled down the maint / repair manuals, they might help. I'll have to eat the bullet and pony up the cash and buy the owners manual.

If you had no luck finding them, there are 4 downloadable PDF publications for maintenance and storage HERE. Perhaps they contain enough info, otherwise Service and Owner's manuals need to be purchased.

I'll look, but I didn't see anything concerning downloadable maint. guides, but it's worth a look.
