Yea, Really about the only time I use it is when doing some cleaning. No I haven't tried cheking the voltage on the other switch. I guess I should do that. It may be for the old bilge pump. Because it now has an automatic bilge pump.

To make it easier on yourself there should be a way to put a float switch in the sump and automate the system. A float switch could be ran in parrallel with the wall mounted switch. Then any little bit left could be pumped manually. I plan on building a sump for mine to keep the bilge dry. It will be fairly simple and I plan on retro fitting a bilge pump and seperate float switch to accomplish it. As for that switch in your companionway have you checked it for voltage across the terminals when in the off position to see if there is anything running through it or if its dead?

It's a different pump than the bilge pump. This pump is labled sump pump. The button that operates it is located on the wall next to the head. It only pumps water that has collected under the slatts in the shower area. That water will not drain into the bilge.

Is your sump pump a bilge pump? If so just up the pump so it keeps up.

It's a '84. The pump pumps ok it's just the holding sump area isn't very big. So you have to run the pump quite often to keep it from filling up the entire bottom of the shower area.

What year is yours? Have you checked the output line from the pump to check for blockages that might be causing it to be so slow?

It has a sump pump. but it doesn't hold much, fills up very fast.

I don't know sorry. I have only been on my boat twice but will go get it to bring it home in the begining of June. If I do have one I will find out what its for cause I going to refit my interior and all systems. I have some cool ideas that will help with maintenance. Does your shower have a sump or does it go straight into the bilge?

Hey Islander 30 Bahama,
I have some thing that has been driving me crazy too. You may be able to help. Do you have an on/off switch just inside the companionway on the starboard side? Mines black and about half way up the trim. I can not figure out what it works. I've tried tracing the wires but loose track of them before I can tell where they go.

Thanks SD I am now not going to go crazy. Now I will just let the idiots that I help on the phone all day drive me crazy. What fun to look forward to.
