This is just amazing.
I've received an e-mail from Bruno at Arco Hutton with both, the exploded view and assembly instructions.
Also downloaded from the EY link you guys sent me.
Boy, I hope someday I can be as helpful as the people on Sailnet is.
Thank you all.

Last year I needed some Barlow winch parts (a shaft somehow managed to go swimming when I rebuilt the winch. I was able to get all the parts I needed here:
HUTTON-ARCO Yacht Winches
Look at 'Service' and 'Spare Parts'.
The prices were great and the parts are perfect. It took a while for delivery. They were good at responding via email.
I don't recall seeing any cotter pins in any winch. If you have another winch, try taking it apart to see the difference between the two.

I have good things to say about Arco Hutton, but would recommend you call them instead of relying on the internet. Have the old parts in hand, they will ask you things like color, etc that you may not know offhand.
Bruno is the guy I dealt with he's extremely knowledgable, helpful, and speedy. Rebuilt 4 barlow winches with his help at a huge cost savings.

This link might work since I copied it while I was logged in.

There is a link to the Barient 18 diagram, courtesy of Ericsonyachts.org. It is a PDF file. Go to that web site, then to;
Links, Resources & Downloads > EY.o Downloads Center > Non-Model Specific Documentation
I would post the URL directly, but Sailnet won't allow me to, as I have fewer than 10 postings in my history.

I just finished rebuilding 2 Barient 16's and 2 Harken 32's. I hope it all works out for you.

thank you guys,
TDW, I've sent an e-mail to Arco as suggested.
L02314564, I've printed the link data which seems the same as Windborn's pdf file and will review.

I have some Barlow / Barient winch data sheets that might help, but I can't post them for some reason. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the PDF. Perhaps you can then post them for the group.

All the old Barient stock of parts was pucrhased by Arco - Australian Winch Company when Barient closed down. Allan Hutton at Arco will be able to email you the necessary docs (if you ask nicely) and if they are still available suppy you with any necessary parts.
Arco have a weird reputation. Sometimes I hear reports that they can take forever to react to a request but my dealings with them have always been super positive.
