Crossed linked polyethelyne (PEX)'s flexibility and strength at temperatures ranging from below freezing up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit makes it an ideal piping material for boats. Keep in mind that it is available in both rolls and in straight lengths. The roll product can be unweildly without a unrolling table so the straight lengths should also be considered as they are forgiving and flexible. The other reason to consider this form is that it can be purchased in in 10' legths rather than expensive multi length rolls. Most boaters should have a heat gun in their tool arsenal and so one should be kept handy to remove kinks (the only way you can without cutting out the kink). Fittings have now come down in cost, in fact the only expensive item you will need to buy is the ring crimper. Good luck, Captain Bruce at boatskipper.com

|wchevron||several manufacturers make colored pex. viega, watts, vanguard, etc. i've pesonally like viega although i wouldn't use their crimp fittings on a boat. they are brass. you could use the push connect fittings by Shark or Watts which can be removed at a later date if needed. the viega ultra pex comes in blue, red, white, and black.|

|eMKay||I am currently retrofitting it into my house, it is light, and easy to work with, and the non-crimp push connectors are pretty idiot proof and do not leak. The only thing I would try and do in a boat is put all the connectors in spots where you can get at them if they do leak.|

Hi all, well the ongoing restoration of our P40 has progressed to the rip out the old plumbing stage. I would like to color code the new plumbing....red for hot and blue for cold. I am doing some research on PEX tubing and fittings. Many of the the larger boat manufacturers are using this now....Mainship, SeaRay, Nordhaven.
Has anyone had any experience with this product? Does anyone know of any other colored tubing that might be available? The old standard reinforced nylon tubing would be ok to use once again but if it could be found in the desired colors that would be great.
Thanks in advance
