Can anyone give me an idea of the cost of shipping a 37 ft'er from the Gulf of Mexico to Lake Ontario?

In May of 2008, I was given quotes to ship a 42' X 13' boat from Ft. Pierce, Fl to Detroit, Mi. Quotes ran from $6500 to $8500. That was the busy season for trucking. I would suspect it could be a bit lower off season. This does not include prep, haulout, de-stepping, relaunch or re-stepping. Those items can add up real fast, even if you do much of the work yourself.
Ballpark figure will be $10,000 all in.

Trucking the boat

I've bought a 40' boat on the east coast, and I'm trying to get her shipped to the west. I have an agreement with a very well-recognized shipper at $11,750, but they keep delaying picking her up. Each week I call the day before they're supposed to pick her up, and then they let me know that it won't be this week, maybe next. Pretty frustrating. I'm told by them all trucks are busy this time of year? Any recommendations for good trucking companies. (sorry 'bout the vent, trust this group understands.)
