Yea it Works
Well turns out that the cable was the same length, but a little different in design. So I loosened the mount and moved both ends to the center holes then tightened the mounts. Now I have about 100 degrees movement from stop to full throttle which is perfect.
With an old boat like mine I was so happy to find a new cable that fit I didnít take the time to check out the small details. Anyway, will feel a little better maneuvering around marinas with the throttle not being so sensitive.
That being said I appreciate your help you really pointed me in the right direction, should make this weekend on the bay less trouble free.

On reviewing my post, I realized I wasn't being completely accurate
If you are changing holes at the pedestal, moving the cable CLOSER to the pivot will increase the lever travel from idle to full throttle. (what you want)
If you are changing holes at the engine, moving the cable AWAY from the pivot will increase the lever travel from idle to full throttle. (what you want)
Careful examination of the levers should reveal, by wear patterns where the cable really was attached.

I have no experience with Atomic 4s, but I'm guessing that there are multiple holes on either the throttle lever at the engine or the pedestal, and that when you replaced the cable, you attached it to a hole closer in to the pivot of the arm. This would explain your limited travel now.
Check and see if there are holes further outboard from the pivot, and move the cable to the outboard hole.
You'll have to readjust it, but your throttle travel will increase.

New Throttle Cable
Put a new throttle cable on my Pearson 30 Atomic 4 engine. I basically replaced it verbatim and it works great. But the distance the throttle moves is extremely tight compared to the old one. I go from idle to full throttle in less then a 60 degrees turn on the stick, it used to go about 140 or more. Any suggestions on how I can increase its range more?
