mrsmcavin Yeah, it would be live aboard year round. Thats what blankets are for... lol We talked with a woman who lives aboard in the marina we will be in and she told us she wraps her boat in plastic wrap in winter and it works fine for her so we are considering it. Since neither of us are very experienced it will be limited cruising till we are more confident. Mostly weekend trips for a while.

camaraderie Welcome aboard! I am a former Irwin owner and most are excellent live aboards as they are spacious and the price is right. Are your plans to live aboard in CT year round...or are there cruising goals as well? The I37 is fine for coastal and ICW but I would not consider one for offshore adventure.

Hello everyone!

Not only am I new to Sailnet, I'm new to sailing in general. I have been on a sailboat once and loved it and my husband has a bit of experience also. We like it so much we are in the process of finding a good boat and becoming live aboards. We found one we like but it is still under discussion. We are thinking about a 1974 Irwin 37' aft cockpit. Thing is, we saw a boat with a center cockpit and the added sleeping quarters and liked it so we decided we wanted a boat with a center cockpit until we saw this one. I think it just had a good vibe about it. I liked it a lot but we are taking our time making sure it is the right one. With any luck, by this time next month, we will be living on the boat and I can go fishing off my roof/deck!
