Im in the process of buying and wonder if it is possible to do your own title serach and documentation via the Web. Ive seen hints of this on some coast guard sites but have not been able to put all the pieces together.
USCG site lets you find vessel ownership, history, etc., for a fee. Call USCG Falling Waters, VA, get some kid, and see if you can pry out of ''em how to do it and on what site. maybe www.dot.gov to start with, as I recall.
I''m in the process of getting my vessel documented. The fee is $133 + $8 per page of your sales agreement.
I called their office and spoke to a clerk who told me it can take up to two months to get your paperwork back. Arrrggghhh.
