Have had the boat two years now. Looks great. Sails great (well, as great as the sailor which might not be saying much!). Temporarily misplaced the camera but will send pics asap.
International Yacht Corporation is also known as Helson. They made boats between 1973-1978. They are fantastic boats. I have a 22' Helson. It is fully restored including new paint. I will post pictures to see if we are talking about the same boats, but i am almost positive that I am correct. I am looking for a spinnaker for this boat if anyone has any good ideas. I am looking for used because they are obviously over priced. Thanks!
My first sailboat was an International 23, we sailed it from West Palm Beach to West End Bahamas. Was a great trip, learned alot, Got hooked on sailing on that trip and got bigger boats and went farther distances. Be careful......sailing can be addictive.
We're looking at an International 23 with a view to trailering it. Like everyone else, we're having trouble getting information about these boats. Does anyone know their displacement? I want to tow it with a Ford Explorer, and need to know the weight.
Sailordog, what kind of trouble are you having with your jib? Stepping the mast sin't too complicated, but can be difficult. What kind of problems are you having?
Silverd, you shouldn't have any trouble towing an I-23 with your Explorer. I use an old Suburban and have no trouble. As you can see on the brouchure I posted, the boat weighs a little over 3000 pounds.
A friend whom is co-owner of Sailboats Inc. in Indianapolis foung the documentation in the back office. You could copy and print what I've posted. If that doesn't work out well, I could try copying it to a .pdf to see if the format is better.
Thanks John,
We tried copying it but it prints out so small that it is hardly legible. We did try to enlarge it but, again, it is too hard to decipher (model and dimensions).
thanks for trying.
I have a 1976 International Yachts HMS 23 pilot house version, I believe there were only 5 made with the stand up high cabin, same bottom hull mold as the 23, Bought it on ebay for 5K in 2004 trailered it home to Daytona area from Chesapeke bay, MD, has a Yanmar 1GM10 diesel inboard, wheel steering, super cool trailer sailor! I have lots of pics of the upgrades I have done...
