John, I had the same problem with Yahoo. After about 3 tries I finally got it to accept me. When you finally get it to work, it works just like SailNet used to work, including showing the email of the sender. Most of the people have moved over there. Just keep trying.
I don't think SailNet has realized how bad they have screwed up. I would always spend a few boat buck with them each years to support them and the message board. I don't think they will be able to depend on that revenue any more.

A lot has happened in the past week......
Catalina 470 owners have decided to seek out a different avenue for discussions, questions, etc.....
And have formed a Yahoo group, that allows e-mail diseminated posts as well as web-based.......(very similar to the old sailnet.net message list)
Almost half of the existing C470 owners have signed-up in just the past couple of days, and all is going well.....
I wish to extend my thanks to sailnet for the years of service, but I already participate in open, public forum discussions (SSCA), and most c470 owners (myself included) were looking to keep a nice happy, friendly group together, without the distractions and complications of thousands of others posting on unrelated and ancillary issues.......
So.....So Long, and FAIR WINDS to all here on sailnet.......
Those Catalina owners wishing to join us, come on over to our yahoo group...

Register, get verified, and you're back in business....just like the old days.....
(you can post on-line....or post via e-mail....and your messages are delivered to every else's e-mail.......just like the old days....)

|engele||A lot of good that post does to enlighten us all. I am just trying to find as many old contacts as I can. Hopefully another lists option is out there that is compelling. Maybe Yahoo groups.|

|camaraderie||For anyone who doesn't know...there is a sticky post explaining the e-mail list shut down and providing links to the archives etc. that was posted by Sailnet in the General Discussion forum today.|

I believe that Lyris is the software that SailNet used on the (now re-tasked) list servers. The Island Packet list is history, too.

I forgot an important piece of info.....
Sailnet has kept the archives......so that we can all seach them as well.....
Here's the link to the archives:

Sailnet Shut's Down Their E-mail List Servers????
Well, I just got an e-mail from sailnet, stating that they've shut down their sailnet.net e-mail list servers, and will be using those servers as database servers for the sailent website, giving them faster response times.......
