|SVDistantStar||When i had my Bayfeild 25 it had a small drain that let out right in the middle of the bow. There was a small drain in the lowest part of the locker that ran through a hose and out of the small hole in the bow.|

|Warren M.||My Hunter 28.5 has a simple hole in the bottom of the anchor locker connected to a tube which is run to a small thru-hull in the bow a few feet above the water line. Works nicely, but has to be hosed out every once in a while as it is small diameter and will hold mud, dirt and other crud. Another nice feature is that it also lets air into your anchor locker, allowing your rode to dry out.|

This is probably a much better solution than draining it to the bilge. Anchor lockers can have some truly nasty water in them, since it can often hav e mud, bottom goo, slime, etc from the anchor or anchor chain in it. If it goes directly overboard it won't stink up the whole boat.

DO NOT drain the anchor well into the bilge - you'll then have to pump the crap back out somehow and you want as little water as possible in the bilge of a small trailable yacht.

|Freesail99||My anchor locker drains into the thruhull that drains down the side of the hull of the boat near the bow.|

|wolfenzee||alot ot boats just have a hole put in at manufacture, a small bronze (like 1/4")through hull would be best for you (try used marine exchange or e-bay). The ScanMars (they used to be sold in Rock Hall on the other side of the bay from you) keep their propane tank in the anchor locker, if there were a gas leak it would just leak overboard.|

The locker just fills up, it is a San Juan 23, i dont have a bilge system to drain it to so it looks like it will be a hole through the hull and straight into the water? How does that sound? Any good ideas of how to drill it and maybe put some sort of siphon maybe??

|wolfenzee||my chain locker drains into the bildge, my anchors stay topsides...hmm I might have to look into that. Does water in your chain locker have any place to go (into the bildge , cabin floor, bunk etc) or does it just fill up. If it just fills up and you have a glass boat the fix might be as easy as a small through hull (material is up to your tastes). There is probably a fancier/more complex answer|

Anchor Locker Drain
I finished up a nice cruise this morning with my wife and after pulling up the anchor and heading in, i left some of the bottom on the anchor and decided to clean it when i got back to the slip. I sprayed it off in the locker thinking there was a drain.....and unfortunately, there was not
Got any ideas of how to make a locker drain?? can i just put a hole in the bottom of the locker to drain off the bow?
