hellosailor Cam, wouldn't the easterly route, across the Atlantic, through the Med, down the Suez Canal stopping in Oz before continuing on to Chile solve the headwind problem?

Could be the "best" way to avoid the Capes and headwinds and accumulate passport stamps.

camaraderie might try dropping a note for advice to Evans Starzinger

They have cruised extensively in Chile and are presently in the beagle channel and can probably give you good advice if they get near an internet connection anytime soon.

Key West to Chile

Via Panama Canal, Galapagos, then what? Seems to be head winds sailing points South. Are there any recent cruisers that have sailed Galapagos to Chile?

camaraderie Baically...through the Panama canal, Galapagos points south. Jimmy Cornell's World Cruising Routes can provide more specifics and timing.
