Been to the Boat House, and the food was good. Also was invited to the Sailboat club their and met some really nice Sailors. Debbie will have a Person to help her bring the boat to Tortola on Thursday or Friday. So things are ramping up.

lilblackbearcat Ok great. That "chick" captain is a good friend of mine, your boat should arrive just fine in her hands. Shame you missed out on the trip! Paying $100 a day at Dinner Key must be a nighmare! Have you been to the Boat House restuarant at Manual Reef? EXCELLENT food and fun happy hour!

Valiente Nice one. I like the Bene First line in many ways more than some of the current Beneteaus, because they were built better for the sea, in my opinion, just as the current ones are built better for the dock! (running, ducking...)

I am in Nanny Kay marina working at my new job. My Beneteau is still in Miami in DinnerKey Marina. A chick Capt. Who works for Mooring in the Bvi (just happened to be in the States) is going to deliver it to me soon. She will leave Friday. The boat will be moored at Manuel Reef Marina when it gets here. I am working for Yacht Restorations LTD in Nanny Kay marina. Let me know where your at and we will try to hook up. I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET MY BOAT HERE!!!. Talk at you later. John.

sailingdog Ginger Snap cookies are better than crackers, and seem to work very well for helping combat seasickness. They taste better too.

Captain by committee rarely works well. I've seen some bareboaters here arrive in port and have mass confusion over anchoring or doing anything becasue they are all captains and no crew...

john232 Well here is the latest..... I am in Dinner key Marina (where they charge you 100 dollars a day to slip a 38 ft yacht) and Capt Woody had to bug out, which is a whole other story. Being in a pecular situation without a Capt. I asked the previous owner whose name is Bob (who is a hell of a nice Guy) if he would be interested in helping me sail the boat to Tortola, and he said he would love to. So he and a good friend of his will be here Sunday to get this show on the road which I am EXTREEMLY HAPPY.
I thing this will be a fun trip and I am looking forward to departure, which should be monday (weather permiting of course) The trip from Jacksonville was extreemely bumpy we had gusts to 35 and fourty miles per hour and had waves(swells) as high as 15 to 20 ft. The boat was amazing because it had very good manners. We had a busted roller furled jib sheeet line break on us and Woody went up to fix it at 2 Oclock at night in some very nasty conditions. Eventually we ran with only the storm try sails, which if it would have been my decision I would have put those on before we even got out of the st. John river, because we knew we were going to get the effects of the tropical depression just north of us. We had east winds and were taking hits on the beam pretty hard by breaking waves and swells.
Well we made it to Miami in about 3 days and Navigated through the channels at 3 in the AM. and that was a trip because are depth finder went out, but I am here and ready for part two.

Lots of FOOD

Pack all the nonperishable food you can fit. Go offshore with at least triple the food you need for the trip. If anything goes wrong, at least you might get fed and keep up your strength.
