Feathering Propellor - need help

We hauled out C&C 44 for the first time this past weekend. This boat was new for us in the spring.
After haulout we found that a ring at the front of the feathering prop has unscrewed itself and was laying loosing around the shaft.
I am not sure what kind of prop it is. It is a 3 bladed feathering prop. I thought it was a Maxprop but when I look at the on-line information and assembly manual my prop is completely different in design. Did Maxprop change their design?
I would expect that my prop is from the 1986 - 1990 period.

The 3 parts of the prop are all intact but loose because the ring holding them together has unscrewed itself. It appears as though there there should be a bolt that screws in to the front of ring that holds the ring in place and prevents it form loosening itself. Claerly this bolt fell out first and then the ring unscrewed itself and came apart.
The same assembly is intact on the back of the prop.
I have managed to start threading the ring back onto the assembly but it appears that a tool is needed to get it on further. There is a hole in the outside of the ring. Clearly a tool must wrap around the ring and a screw would be inserted into the hole in the ring.

Anyone who has information that could help identify the kind of prop that I have and where I would get access to the tool that is required to reassemble the prop would be appreciated.

JonB-

A photo of said prop would make identifying it a lot easier. Also, it would help in identifying what tool is needed to tighten the ring.

That describes a spanner wrench. I have a Maxi prop from that time period, I'll see if I can find a picture of it.

Skywalker your description of the zinc cone sounds accurate for what I have.
All of the information I can find on the internet about Variprop refers to a prop that looks like a new design that clearly does not have the zinc cones.

Do you have a link to any information on their "old" prop?

After looking at more pictures I believe the prop is a Luke feathering prop.
It seems to have the same screw on end fittings (front and back) secured by a locking screw applied into the front and back faces.

Does anyone have any information on this prop, I have not been able to find much. It looks like I will have to call them.

Thanks, jon
