Re: Which model do I own

I bought a newport 27. No real idea what model it is. I think I have the shallow draft. and the drawings of the 27 mkiii show the stove on the wrong side

I haven't sailed it a lot yet. I still need to add a second bilge pump and replace or repair the manual pump.

I am pretty sure the boom would support 10.25ft. Just wanted to make sure.
When ordering a new sail your best bet is to have your sailmaker measure the rig anyway... that will ensure the best fit - "standard" dimensions are not always still the same 15 or 20 years on. This is one of the problems with using offshore sail sources too, as they will rely on class standard dimensions in many cases.

KeelHaulin An '85 should be a MK-II. The hull is #862 of the production run; mfr'd in Jan of 85 (based on your HIN). The rig type would depend on what the standard or tall dimension is; measure your mast height and boom length. The "S" should denote a shoal draft configuration; but I'm not certain on that one because my boat is labeled on the instrument panel as a '41-S but it has a full depth keel.

Info is located here:

Which model do I own

I am the proud owner of a 1985 Newport 27 (CPY00862A585). I've never been able to figure out the particular model of this boat. I've done some searches and have found a wide array of different models: the Gulf, MK 1, MK 2S, MK 3 Short Rig, Mk 3 Std. Rig, Std rig, Tall rig, 27-3, 27-3 SD, 27ET, 27S, 27S TM, 27S-2 766+, 27S-2 SD, 27S-2 SM and the 27S-2 SM SD. Is there a way to tell which one I have from the hull number?

Many Thanks!

Chris
