To lock the prop almost every engine does this by placing the engine in reverse after your turn it off. I have found leaving it in neatral the shaft will sometimes still rotate under sail.

|Faster||Our previous boat was a 16,000 lb 40 footer with the Hurth V-drive.. we changed from a worn shaky martec folder to a 3 blade Campbell sailor prop. The folder was an 18x12, the Campbell spec'd out to 17x11. While there was, of course, increased drag under sail, the operation under power was WAAY smoother, and the reverse was much better too. We never regretted it!|

It depends on your tranny. Some later 36T's came with a Hurth v-drive and some with a Paragon tranny fitted to a Walters v-drive and I've heard of some with a velvet drive.
Generally speaking most transmission can either be locked in reverse or left in neutral though some require reverse locking as they are not lubed without the engine running. Without knowing your drivetrain it's hard to advise.

CS 36T Propeller
I would like to replace my folding two bladed prop with a fixed three blade, can anyone tell me if there is any way to prevent the prop shaft from turning when under sail if I do this and if it does any damage if allowed to rotate.
My engine is a W33 and the prop I am considering is the Campbell Sailer.
