Autohelm 6000 Installation

if you are installing a linear drive 6000
it''s usually a simple job with a little glass or metal work.
the benefit to installing it yourself is that you know how it all works , where the course computer, fluxgate compass and rudder reference transducer are and how they work.
if you are going offshore there is nothing like knowing your boat, plus i believe a handy owner can do a better job than most yards.

Autohelm 6000 Installation

Experience counts when it comes to autopilot installs. There may be glass work, welding/fabrication, and other facilitating steps that have to be taken depending on which drive unit u use. Always remember that the drive mount receives all of the load from the helm. But, if you feel comfortable doing it, go for it.

Autohelm 6000 Installation

I''m looking at getting the Autohelm 6000 for my new 36 footer. Has anyone have any opinions about self installation vs. dealer?

Thanks
