hellosailor AFAIK styrofoam doesn't biodegrade in any practical terms, it just crumbles into smaller pieces which eventually get ingested into something or collected somewhere.

I wonder if a watercop would write up a separate violation for EACH crumb that falls off?

Gailstrail I also believe the Styrofoam can be coated with something to prevent water from being absorbed.

Gailstrail I'm not leaving it in the water. It would be placed underneath the seats of my boat and used as a safety precaution should my boat turn over.

MARC2012 If you leave it in the water it will beome water logged.marc

I'm looking for large 1 foot X 3 foot X 32 inch styrofoam blocks

I need two of them to fit under the wood seats in my sailboat. Can you let me know where I might get them? Or could you sell them to me?

Thanks, Gailstrail

Will this work? I don't really feel like spending any money on epoxy... maybe I will glass it along the keel and at the oarlocks but nowhere else.

Will oil paint melt the styro?

Has anyone done this with the white low density foam?

Pictures when it is done!
