St Anna Yes. we had the same engine. The dipstick was that filler bolt! You will be able to pull it apart or possible a magnetic flexible stick. I cant remember if it was iron or brass??
Good Luck. The old 'green death' wins another point.

Volvo MD7A Missing reverse gear dipstick

I have a 1978 Albin Vega powered by a Volvo MD7A. I removed the reverse gear oil filler bolt to find No dipstick! Has anyone else had this experience?
Could the dipstick have slipped down into the transmission?

Thanks
Irv
