Has anyone checked out this website the website for Out to Sea and Overboard - Join 200,000 people as we sail around the world. Sorry it won't let me post the link because I haven't posted enough.

Is this for real and is it even doable?

I wonder about the legitimacy of the organization. The major part of the site system to be the registration system which costs hundreds of dollars. The content of the site is quite limited. Lets see 200,000 people would be 60 to 80 thousand boats. So somewhere in the neighborhood of $21m in fees. Does San Francisco even have moorage and/or anchoring for that many boats?

If the Panama canal authorities delays a few yachts for weeks, how long will 60000 be delayed :) The same is true for the Suez canal :) If they really think that they would be going in large numbers they should have made it around the capes?
According to their website the route is supposed to use the Panama/Suez canals. Either the setup is a scam or rather naïve?

The website accepts a PayPal and Google checkout so that you can pay for the various admission fees, registration fees, and dinner pass fees, but provides zero contact information. No names, no addresses, no phone numbers, not even an email address. It's definitely a scam.

Who Needs Them

Are there really that many stupid wanabies out there in the boating world?

I suggest not. Now if they had any sense they would reduce the number to say... 10% (20,000 cruising sailors), then I'm in. That would be maybe Just 4,000 to 6,000 boats, that would be some boat parade. Can you imagine Christmas?

We could take over a small country, maybe two. We could call them the federated states of Winderlustberge or some other very catchy name and we could import women and rum and declare every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday a weekend. Monday and Thursday we could work or something and Sunday we would rest. Who's with me? Forget these guys, this Sailnet community can do it. I just know we can.

Do you think maybe Beneteau and Hunter would be able to supply some of the boats? I'll need one. And who's the Coast Guard Commander? Shouldn't someone tell him?

I love this idea! I'm 110% behind it.
