For that money you might want to look at a new Pacific Seacraft 37. Ocean rated like the Hans Christian with a similar traditional look but larger in size. The 33T is very nice, but for that money, you should really want to keep her for a long time and look at it from a style, comfort, what you like point of view and not just $$. If I could afford it, I would get a new 41 Traditional with the hard dodger option. There are plenty of used Hans Christians for sale on various online sites if you want to go that route and use the savings to do any upgrades you want. From what I have seen, they are definately rugged enough to stand up over time, so a 15 or 20 year old boat with some equipment upgrades may not be a bad way to go. The basic structure is very sound.

I spoke to the factory and they can build me a new 33t. The pricing shipped to the states with everything I want would be $310,000. Not sure if it is worth trading up from my 2001 IP320?

I don't think they make the 33T new anymore. Last time I checked their website and spoke to the West Coast dealer, they only made the 41 and 48 footers. This was about 9 months ago. You might want to check this out. There are a few used ones for sale.

Sailormann They are very good bluewater boats - probably one of the best (if not one of the fastest). The price is certainly competitive with other yachts in its class. Note that a new boat usually requires substantial further investment in fittings and equipment to allow for extended passagemaking. Your 250K will probably top out closer to 300K sailaway.

Good Luck !

kwaltersmi $250k!? That's very steep for a 33t. The 33t is one of my favorite boats because of her bluewater abilities, salty good looks and crafty interior layout (pullman berth). However, I think you can do better for $250k or get a very nice used 33t for $75-$135k.

CharlieCobra I sailed a friend of mine's HC 33T. Great interior but don't expect to set any speed records.

Hans Christian

I was looking at purchasing a new Hans Christian 33T. Does anyone have any experience with this boat? Is it worth spending $250,000? Would you consider this a good blue water sailboat?
