|erps||Is it spitting water out the exhaust? If not,start at the thru hull fitting and start pulling off hoses to watch for water flow. Follow the hoses up to the raw water pump. On some motors, the raw water goes through a transmission cooling jacket first. If the impeller on your raw water pump self destructed, the little rubber vanes could be stuck in hoses and fittings after your raw water pump. Pull those hoses off too, to check. Also, have you pulled the ends off your heat exchanger to check it's condition. All those little copper tubes can get blocked by debris and restrict flow. It might be easier just to pull it off and blast some water through it with the water hose on the dock. That's where I would start anyway, without knowing anything further.|

Three yeas ago my exhaust rotted through on a trip to a fireworks show. The boat got pretty hot and was limped back to the marina. I replaced the easy parts ( the straight ones ) and saved the brass parts for reinstallation. Replaced the exhaust.
Has no water circulation.
In trying to troubleshoot this problem I have replace the water pump, the head gasket, all the hoses, have no thermostat in it at present time. The engine still overheats after about five minutes of idling. I'm still getting no raw water coolant circulation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would love to use my boat again and reallly need to redo the bottom paint. The boat is a 36' Islander from 1976 with the Atomic four engine.
