skyellab The facts of life are we all go through this or have gone through it and all join together for support as this is something we all have feelings for. Your dad sounds like a person who had a passion and lived it. I and WE respect this. My sincere condolences to your mom and family. May his memory live a long long time!

tdw Thank you one and all. It really does amaze me though it shouldn't.

When I told my mum about your support, prayers and good wishes she was truely amazed.

Salute.

mgmhead tdw ... my sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father. He sounds like a great guy and someone I'd enjoy having a drink or two with, as do you.
All the best...MGM

sailhog I've been out of pocket for the past week or so and was saddened to read this. This is all I have to say:

Oy vey.... Captain Andrew, my heart goes out to you and yours. Reading your wonderful eulogy gets right to the heart of who your step father was as a human being. It also speaks to who you are as well, my friend. You are one good egg. One simple fact becomes very apparent: you and he had your differences, but you loved him well all the same.

Here's to Captain Andrew....
Always your friend,
Dwight

smackdaddy Andrew,

The following message is from Ray Benson of Asleep At the Wheel. This is no joke. Since they are based in my hometown of Austin I emailed their manager who kindly passed on your story to Mr. Benson. The band is on tour and currently in Colorado. But Ray took the time to send this to you...

When we formed Asleep at the Wheel part of my goal was to heal the generational rifts so prevelant in our generation with music! Glad to see it worked even half way round the world! My condolences to your family!

Contact me via PM and I'll give you the email address of the manager so you can pass a message to Mr. Benson. And a big shout out to their manager, Peter, for responding so quickly and being so helpful.

What a wonderful freakin' world!

I'm sure you'll conjure a nice send-off for him. A guy as politically astute as that deserves nothing less.

You're in our thoughts. Take care, John
My thoughts exactly. What a great read you just put together. Take your time - we got John at the Con when not in the John. He needs a little punishment for something anyways.

Take care,

Brian

skyellab I am so sorry for your loss. The problem with life is that we don't live forever. It is never the right time to leave and we who are left behind do feel pain. I am grateful that he did not have to suffer or live in a nursing home and was surrounded by that that he loved to the end. It has been almost two years for my dad and it is rough.

Stillraining Ditto that Andrew..very nice words indeed.

I would have liked your dad, quite a lot I should think.

Big bear hugs to you and your Mother my old friend.
