My Standard Horizon Depth/Speed system has died. Per Tech Support at Standard Horizon, the transducer is the culprit. So it turns out I have a choice of transducers: one that will mount through the hole in the hull that the old one was mounted through and one that mounts inside and "shoots" through the hull - no hole required. The latter sits in a liquid bath in a cylinder that's attached to the inside of the hull at an angle that will compensate for the angle of the hull at that point. That is, it will point straight down (when we're not heeled over, that is).
The one that requires no hole can be mounted now, while the other will wait until the offseason. During the offseason, I'd fill the no longer needed hole in the hull.
So I'm leaning toward the one that needs no hole. Are there any other factors I should consider?
TIA
