How far north does the nearly all year round zone extend ?
I need to get some good cruising guides to the PNW.
Charlie's Charts is the obvious and I've just ordered a copy.
Not a cruising guide but Jonathan Raban's "Passage to Juneau" was the book that first turned me on to the area.
Anything else ?
(hmm...this should be its own thread and I bet someone else has already covered it....time to hit the search engine wombat)

We too try to get out year round... our club has events throughout the winter, including a New Years eve get together at Bowen Island, a short 10 nm sail for most of us....
Given the generally light air during summers, particularly in the popular cruising areas, some of our "best sailing" is in the so-called shoulder seasons and winter.

I have sailed every month of the year in British Columbia. I will admit that December, January and February are a bit cool.
My last trip this year end on Oct 6. My first trip next year starts March 29.

To my mind one of the best cruising areas in the world, especially after Labor Day weekend and before school lets out in the summer. The Gulf Islands fit in the same category. Nice pictures, thanks.
Did you get to see Turn Pt at full ebb tide? Pretty amazing. We made the trip to Reid Hbr, Stuart Island from the dock at Mystery Bay, Marrowstone Island in about 10 hours without a breath of wind the whole trip. Engine at idle, "current sailing". That Canadian Current Atlas is super valuable when planning cruises.

I think that the marina has been open throughout. A friend went last spring and had problem getting a slip.
Thanks for the update and link.
