This is your lucky day Goose trucker. I am probably one of the few sailors that has ever done this that is likely to reply to your query. On the bottom of the keel there are two SS plates that are screwed into the fiberglass that act as keepers for the nylon pin that the centerboard pivots about. I lifted the boat with slings in our shop and did the pin replacement in about two hours. It was worn but not to the point of failure when I did mine. I estimate that the boat was approximately 13 y/o when I did the repair. Dropping the board will afford you the chance to inspect and replace the cable connection to the board as well, a part more suspect than the pin in my opinion.

Centerboard Penant Replacement
My newly acquired 1979 O''day 23 has a very worn centerboard penant which I want to replace before it breaks and I would like any input about how to do it. Are there any new parts required to do the job?
