pkats Would you recommend 15W40 or 10W30 for this engine? I now the difference is vescosity, but still...

Vasco Regular 30 weight oil is fine for the transmission if that's what the manual calls for.

pkats Thank you for your responses. What about gearbox oil? I have KM2P-1 marine gear. Is regular #20 or #30 oil ok?

theartfuldodger Use 15W40 Rotella oil best kind, use it in my 3ym30, from day one.

Vasco Use only diesel oil. This will be "C" rated (compression). Gasoline engines use the "S" rated (spark) oil. I use Shell Rotella.

Oil change for 3YM30 diesel engine

I am planning to change oil on my 3YM30 diesel engine. Manual says that I can use 10W-30 or 15W-40 oil and #20 or #30 oil for gear box. Can I just use regular oil? In the store I saw special oil just for diesel engines. Thank you.
