The armaflex seems interesting. Heat transfer is a function of three things. Surface area, temperature differential, and thermal conductivity. I think that if you insulated a boat, even with the 1/4" armaflex self adhering sheets, you would see a great improvement in heating-cooling efficiency. I would do this mainly on exposed hull surfaces in the v-berth and salon. I am not sure how much insulating the lockers would help.

Haven't tried this yet, but will be using it shortly. I found it at the Bass Pro Shop. I have no affiliation with the company. It is called "Ultra Tuff Rubberized Sound-Deadening Coating" Hopefully this link will get you there.
