Beneteau 11.5

This post got my curiosity up so I googled it. Here is place where you might find some info on your boat. I don''t know, as I did not explore any of the listed sites, but it looked like a possibility.

Beneteau 11.5

I thought you were trying to sneak an advertisment in on us, but there at the very bottom was this unusual boat. It is 30 ft long with a 3 ft beam, 7 ft draft (keel down), and weighs 2400#. Cost is about 50k. Sounds like an offshore cruiser to me. Home page for the boat is

Thanks for pointing us to this very interesting boat.

Beneteau 11.5

I have no personal experience with them, but an old broker told me they were well built. She didn''t have one but recommended I look for one.

You didn''t mention the keel depth. If this boat has the 4''4" draft then it won''t sail upwind worth a darn. If it was the deep draft version then it should be fine. No, the boat will not be as fast as the first series but would be better fitted out for cruising.

Beneteau 11.5

I am seriously considering the purchase of a Beneteau Idylle 11.5. I am unfamiliar with this particular series. I know that the First series are the race boats that are reasonably well constructed and the Oceanis series are more for cruising and are a little less robust.
Does this boat fall somewhere in between or did it have some other purpose? I am a little concerned about the depth of draft for a boat that size and am wondering how well it can actually sail? I have no intention of racing this boat, but I don''t want to sail a boat that is a slug or one that simply can''t go to weather at all.
