2Gringos Thanks. I sure could have used that a couple years back. I was using some old notes ( 40 something years old) taken by a guy when describing the location of a ballast pile and anchor he had seen out on the reef a mileand a half out from the beach. He had radioed a friend on the beach and had them take two compass bearings from fixed points from the beach to his anchored boat.

He sketched it all out, with the bearings, and planned to come back with some diving gear and an metal detector and really explore it. All he had with him that day was a faceplate. No snorkel or flippers. He never came back, and the friend with the sketch is now 84 years old and a friend of mine.

I worked it all out on my own, but spent a fair bit of time searching for this location. I eventually figured the declination from that year and applied it to the beach location bearings, but this program would have made that part of it way easier.
