Re: S2 27 Class Association

WAY LATE to the party. Like ... 7 YEARS!? Wow... Are you guys still around and owning your 27s?

I just bought an S2 27 (#11) last August last year. I was able to get her out 3 times. Absolutely LOVE it! While light, she gets up and goes quick! Haven't done much racing. Might get into that, someday. Right now, the family and I are enjoying the headroom, a working head and stability. My previous boat was an O'day 192. Great boat for a small family (which I had), and easy to sail and take "anywhere". But... things grow... like kids!

FWIW, I started an S2 Facebook group: facebook . com / groups / 388650157962105

I've considered starting an S2 27 group. Even registering a domain name. Thoughts? I'm a web developer and could totally help in that regard.

alnal I found a place called Rudder Craft that will manufacture a new rudder but I'm only missing the overall hight of the rudder. Any chance you may be able to drop a measuring tape down and let me know. Thanks.

alnal As of now that's my best offer, I think we'll have to haul her and wait to get something made this winter. Thanks for you help and I'll follow up in November.

BobS2 I could make a pattern, but not until she's hauled out at the end of the season. That should be mid-November. Hope you find something before then!

alnal Any chance anyone could give me the specs to the S2 27 rudder? I lost mine and either need to find a used one or get one made.

CrescentSail That should have read can't (not can). So now this will be posting #5 for me. Again I appologize for using up space unneccesarily.

CrescentSail Hello Rperret,
I can PM you about the class association becuase I have <5 posts, so with this I'll have 4. Sorry to clutter up the new group.

rperret Dreamteam and crescentsail

I have slowly pulled together a yahoo newsgroup with a few s2 27 owners. Granted our posting activity has been minimal but we have gathered info on the boat of interest to owners.

See my post above if you email to the class association email addres I will give you permission to access the forum.

Sail S2 27

I have sailed mostly on a Lake in GA but this last year I move to a lake in SC. I have the standard keel.

CrescentSail Hello Dreamteam,

I do still use this forum, just not too regularly. I have been trying to tune my rig a bit better for racing. Have been experimenting with shroud tension. What type of keel do you have? Mine is the shoul keel. Winter is about to bite us here in MI. I plan to pull the mast on Sunday and pull it out of the water on Monday. Glad you're on the forum. Stay in touch.
