Yorktown to Irwin
Just wanted to say Thanks for all the help on this post and others. I recently had the opportunity to do a (more or less) even swap from my Yorktown to an Irwin and thus inherited an entirely new set of gremlins to wrap my (puny and overtaxed) mind around. Detailed pictures might help. I would also find out the credentials of the mechanic or shop doing the work. When the engine went the first time everything should have been measured block,crank,bores for spec and the old parts inspected for problems as well (odd wear etc).
Having them tell you something is ok is not ok especially when a rebuild hand grenades after 50 hours. A good re builder should be able to measure and inspect every component inside your engine and easily see anything that will or could be a problem before if happens unless you had defectively manufactured parts. It's hard to diagnose anything over the net or by pictures.

Volvo Penta MD11C Connecting Rod Bolts Breaking
Hello. My 1974 sailboat has a Volvo Pent MD11C that bit the biscuit after I bought her. (Against reasonable advice), I decided to have her rebuilt. Upon dis assembly they discovered that the connecting rod bolts had broken and twisted one of the connecting rods. Bought replacements & cylinder liners etc..) only to have the same problem occur again within 50 hours. Anyone have any advice as to what could be going on. had the mechanic check the crankshaft with a micrometer to check wear and was told it was OK. Any advice/insight would be greatly welcome.
