You might be interested in checking out the Boca Ciega Yacht Club in Gulfport. They have a great rep, I am not a member, but they do a lot of charitable works and may have something to offer too.
I think it's great to get out on the water any way you can!

|raisin56||Davis Island Yacht club has Thursday night races come spring. They are on public land so they open to the public for the events. Go to the club house bar and let them know you want to crew. Someone will usually pick you up and it can be a great way to learn. I sailed that way for a couple of seasons and was able to pickup skills from some very capable sailors. You may also want to check out the sailing center in St. Petersburg. If you take their lessons then for a year you can take out one of their boats on your own. Quite a good deal if you look at the cost of renting a boat for a day.|

Newbie sailor looking to crew in Tampa Bay area.
Hello all! Took a sailing course and now I'm looking for anyone to sail with in the Tampa Bay area. Really don't care if I'm just rail beef. Just would like to get out on the water and get some experience.
I'm 43, educated and somewhat intelligent. You can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if interested.
