Just as important is the wire gauge and how the cables are put together. I would favor a pre-made cables over ones that you might make yourself as there would be less chance for corrosion and power loss.

The automotive terminals can carry more current than the studs, so I would connect the batteries in parallel with the automotive terminals, and whatever you have to charge them with. Needs for the vessel can come off the studs, depending on current demand.

Best connect to parallel batteries?
If you've got two Group 27s with screw terminals and lug terminals (or whatever you call the typical auto clamp on terminals) and you're going to connect them in parallel, which terminals do folks usually use for this, the screw ons or the lugs? I haven't gotten the cables yet, so I can go with either.
