marianclaire Cunuckster: My wife enjoys sailing but not the day to day moving on the ICW. So she waits until I get the boat some where nice and then joins me for a week or so. ST Mary’s/Cumberland Island, Islamorada, Marathon etc. If it is nice we sail with no schedule and if it is rough we do shore trips. It has worked well for us. Dan S/V Marian Claire

Canuckster Thanks SmackDaddy and WanderingStar ! Years ago I had the "need for speed" and did alot of skydiving in Canada and the US. I've gone from one extreme to the other ! LOL This is my 3rd year sailing and everytime I feel more comfortable with sailing. If all goes well this season,, my big plan is to trailer my boat to Florida and "hang out" in the Bahamas this winter. As I mentioned, the wife can't stand sailing, but it would be fun for her to fly in, relax for a week then send her on her way ! lol

WanderingStar Sounds great. I'm retiring in June, plan to cruise the East Coast part time. While I like to get the best from my sailboat, I hate to hurry. Motorboat guys ask "Isn't it slow?" I tell them that if I were late I'd take the car.
Years ago I knew an 80ish sailor named Herb. He told me that when he was young he played tennis and other sports. He went sailing for the first time at 26 and never played tennis again. Welcome aboard.

Out from the shadow's !!

Hello Everyone !
I've been lurking in here for the past 2 years or so, and thought it was finally time to come out of the shadow's ! (Due to the politically "correctness", if I stated coming out of the closet, lol, different subject altogether !)
I'm 52 years young, married 30 years with 2 daughters , all whom hate sailing ! I grew up in "powerboats" since I was born and 3 years ago decided to try sailing and have never regretted or looked back ! I could never understand a powerboaters mentallity, rush like hell Monday to Friday, then turn the keys and rush Saturday and Sunday ? I bought a 1984 7.5 Tanzer for single hand sailing ( plus my German Shepherd ) this is all I need.
I sail out of Port Stanley on the north shores of Lake Erie. I just retired in December, so this coming summer, I'm just "going with the wind" and the ATM card ! LOL
Hope everyone's having a great day !!
